What Is In A Name?
If you’ve decided to create a guild then you are also going to need to decide on a name.
This isn’t always an easy task though. In my experience it has often been one of the hardest tasks you will face in the beginning as you look to create your guild.
The guild name should represent what you envision your guild will do. Guild names can be a powerful recruiting tool or a powerful way to drive people away from your guild.
Guilds with one word names tend to have more success recruiting than the guilds with longer names. This isn’t to discourage you from using a few words but rather should alert you to the fact that if you use a few words be sure they are something catching and memorable.
I have found it often helpful to think of one word that I think will catch attention or describes my guild and then getting a thesaurus out to find a word that matches my original word.
Guild names that get wordy or lengthy aren’t guilds that I’ll join and for many remembering the guild name will prove difficult and lead to a more difficult time recruiting.
Some guilds can pull off multiple words but generally you shouldn’t name your guild anything that is over three words.
What is the story behind your guild name? I’d love to hear it in the comments.
