Give Me The Expectations

Jul 21, 10 Give Me The Expectations

One thing I’ve seen a lot of guilds do wrong is not give the expectations up front.

Most will tell you what type of guild they are (raiding, casual, PVP, roleplay) but don’t tell you what the expectations are in regards to activities.

Having a guild that lasts doesn’t just happen. It requires work from the guild master, the officers and the members.

How can members help maintain the guild though without the expectations?

Keeping your members active is one of the most important aspects of maintaining your guild. Life happens, we all know that but without an expectation on what being active is you can’t possibly get anywhere.

If you expect your guild members to login at least once every 15 days you need to tell them. If you expect your guild members to visit the guild website at least once per week you need to tell them.

I’ve joined several guilds where the expectations weren’t defined or where the guild didn’t communicate them properly.

Having these expectations and defining them will create a more organized guild. Organized guilds are easier to recruit for, organized guilds are easier to keep new members.

Be sure to apply your expectations evenly, don’t play favorites and reward those who go above the expectations.

What sort of expectations do you set? Let me know in the comments.
