Former Welsh and UK Government press officer with PR and Comms experience from SEO copywriting to media and social media handling, internal comms and strategic public sector, third sector and private sector communications management. Led Welsh Government comms strategy relating to Communities and Equalities policies during Covid, including launch of race equality action plan and volunteering policies. Led WG comms delivery re uptake of Covid vaccination by black, Asian and minority ethnic communities. Led WG comms on asylum seeker and refugee policy. Led media handling and comms strategy on domestic abuse and violence against women for Welsh Government, Gwent Police and Independent Office for Police Conduct. Led press conference launch of special investigation report into police perpetrated domestic abuse. Special interest in building internal and external comms strategy to bring to life organisational values and objectives and inspire behavioural change. Obsessed with plain English. An interesting, or unusual fact(s) about me…
I was employed as manager of a mental health charity in Ontario, Canada from 2011-2013. During this time I developed a partnership with the local university communications professor. Students of the university developed a communications and marketing plan as a real life project, which also built local engagement and brought in revenue. I also set up a community shop, and employed multiple mental health consumers to carry out paid projects from leaf and snow sweeping to painting and decorating. This improved their individual health and wellbeing, as well as supporting public health policy and creating a strong sense of community.

Pitching and securing 2 days of live BBC Crimewatch filming, and advising, supporting and coaching a police inspector with no previous broadcast experience to present as empathetic, knowledgeable and trustworthy.
