Ethics issues and awareness within the public relations industry and also targeted externally across disciplines... No one is perfect (including me), and being an ethics advocate should never be about implying one's own perfection. But if we don't at least try to raise PR industry standards, we will continue to be a misunderstood, under-compensated, and economically challenged industry performing under its full potential.

I have a storied history within the U.S.-based Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), of asking questions privately about PRSA National's documented financial discrepancies and other ethics / legal noncompliance issues, then being ignored by leadership, leading me to ask the same questions publicly. Since contending with PRSA's retaliation culture, I've become an activist within the industry to urge stronger and more transparent practices... because if leaders in the industry don't model practices we know are important for the industry's own reputation, then our workforce suffers.
