Nick's professional bio / interests

I set up my first business whilst still at school and I was hooked! I love invention and the creation of new and different ideas and thinking. I've been fortunate to have worked with some incredible brands and global businesses over the 25 years I've been in marketing. Developing brand activation and marketing communications campaigns for FMCG brands, on-trade retailers, off-trade grocery and global travel retail. On the brand, B2C and B2B side of things I've worked across many categories, including alcoholic drinks, food and beverages, beauty, haircare, cosmetics, prestige fragrances, telecoms, FMCG, jewellery and even plant-based products. Creating new ideas and inventing new things is an exciting, thrilling thing to be involved in. Whether it’s the different use of an existing idea, tech or tool, creating a new communications campaign or pack design from scratch, disrupting the status quo with a completely new brand or even launching a whole new business. It’s that ability to harness fresh, inventive, thinking, inspired team-work and the bringing together of multiple, seemingly unrelated strands that’s often inspiring in itself. After 25 years I’m more hooked than ever!

An interesting, or unusual fact(s) about me…

I discovered that with the help of Wim Hof, I can hold my breath for nearly five and a half minutes. Quite a useful skill when awaiting pitch results...!

A career highlight

Growing my first marketing agency to a team of 18 ambitious, successful young people, with a beautiful office in Covent Garden, delivering incredible work for world-class businesses, brands and people. We had grown into a seasoned agency and team, capable of delivering global marketing and activation campaigns, rejuvenating existing brands and packaging or inventing new digital tools. We even created our own completely new online chocolate business from scratch that went on to win £90,000 in prize money and be voted one of the top Virgin Start-Up's of the year by Richard Branson and his team along with not only an invite to Richard’s house, but also discussions at Downing Street on two occasions. Proud moments.
