John's professional bio / interests

John Biggs has spent over 40 years at senior manager or board level in a diverse range of industries in the private sector. During this time, he successfully undertook many significant projects involving change management, business restructure and diversification. In 1984, he joined a small UK electromechanical manufacturer who had just been acquired by a major American organisation. Here he headed up the commercial activities and was part of the project team set up to integrate it into the parent company. He eventually moved to the companies’ UK headquarters in Kent and headed up the Commercial and Export functions. In1992, John moved to the UK subsidiary of a Swiss electronics company in a commercial management role and there then followed 22 years of career progression and success in a number of UK and International roles including a 2 year assignment in China where he headed up the establishment of a wholly owned subsidiary, and on his return to Europe, 3 years responsible for the corporations global distributors. His final role was as Managing Director for Northern Europe where he successfully managed and implemented a new regional structure which went on to become the blueprint throughout the whole corporation. John has achieved considerable success in turning companies around, implementing change and leading successful boards. In 2008 he, along with 2 other industry peers, established the Interconnect Technology Suppliers Association (ITSA) which is a unique association and he is currently the Chairman of ITSA and has a mission to make it the recognised voice of the industry in the UK. Since retiring in 2014 John has undertaken a number of consultancy roles and in March of 2020 he joined the board of the Institute of Occupational Safety and health as a Non-Executive Director and in March of 2021 he was appointed as a Trustee of Crossroads Care in Oxfordshire.

I was the first engineer to develop an inline cleaning system, for the drinks industry, which did not involve removing filters.

Diversification of business away from commodity components into higher level value add solutions thereby securing longer term relationships, improved penetration into customers business, increased revenues and net profit as well as upskilling my company.
