I'm an agency guy through and through, over 25 years in a mixture of independent and network agencies - McCann, twentysix, BJL, Branded3 - and at Board level for the last 8+ years. I'm now in my 6th year of being an advisor/'NED' to creative and digital businesses - primarily to owners and Boards but I do get involved at all levels too. I'm also part of a team that runs a number of digital, creative and tech sector growth programmes across the Manchester and Liverpool areas. My observation on the sector, and from personal (sometimes bitter!) hands-on experience of being on the inside, is that there are many great agencies out there with top quality skills across creative, technical, client service, strategy, delivery etc - but not that many that manage to translate that quality into the success the owners, the business and the wider team deserve. I love helping agencies solve this problem.
