Marcelle co-founded Holiday-Rentals.com, Europe’s leading website for advertising private holiday homes. After the company was sold, she attended TPW and was inspired to found Localgiving which provides an online donations platform, digital skills training and match funds for small local charities and community groups in the UK. Marcelle ran and funded Localgiving for nine years, during which time over £30million has been raised. In 2017, having made it sustainable, she handed Localgiving to a social entrepreneur 30 years her junior. In 2018 Marcelle commissioned research UK registered charities spend £1.1bn per year writing an average of 23 different applications per year, of which 66% fail. Brevio.org has developed a platform that uses a single application form to match charities to grant makers whose detailed funding criteria they fulfil. It was developed together with both charities and funders, and was launched in May 2020. Marcelle holds a BSc in Environmental Sciences , and has an MBA from INSEAD. In 2011, Marcelle was awarded an OBE for her services to the voluntary sector. In 2013 she was awarded a Beacon Fellowship for Pioneering Philanthropy and was named Philanthropist of the Year at the Spear’s Wealth Management Awards. In 2014 she received an honorary Doctorate from the University of East Anglia. Marcelle has served as a Trustee of New Philanthropy Capital
