Natasha's professional bio / interests
My career started in events. I spent 15 years running international conferences, training and exhibitions. First in finance then in tech. I wanted to see the world... and I was lucky enough to travel a lot, including a 2yr stint working from Hong Kong. I learnt a lot about the nuance of culture, about problem solving, what makes people give up their time, how to break down a topic, and how to keep people energized and engaged. In 2016, I evolved my love for content developed in the events industry to become a content marketer for a small tech not-for-profit. I was lucky enough to be promoted quickly, to Head of Marketing, and grow experience quickly. I worked on our business planning, reported to the board, lead on thought leadership, managed a PR crisis and oversaw comms for a merger that eventually led me to my current role. In 2019 we merged with a larger not-for-profit tech firm, focused on supporting the education sector. Jisc is a membership organisation and my role is about working with communities to give those members a sense of belonging and involvement in our work. I avoid running too many communities directly, instead my role is about bringing good practice to how we work with communities, spotting and capturing opportunities and ensuring we learn from our engagements.
