Dr Michael Chen received his MSc and PhD from National University of Singapore, and University of Oxford, respectively. He is currently working in the Institute for Bioengineering in the School of Engineering at The University of Edinburgh as a Senior Lecturer in Chemical Engineering. Dr Chen’s research is focused on biomaterials, biomedical engineering, and the application of nanomaterials in biology and medicine. Relevant to this workshop, he is interested in employing nanotechnology for efficient collection of criminal DNA samples and microfluidic devices for sensitive detection of these samples. He has published > 120 papers in peer-reviewed journals and held 12 granted patents.
