Zahra is the place lead for equity, diversity and belonging for Bradford district and Craven, she coordinates partners and organisations on our shared 10-point placed based equalities action plan, which includes gender equality to diversifying leadership, workforce and governance representation. Zahra has led on several programmes including being the lead for the integration and cohesion programme, as one of five pilot cities in the UK, and sharing best practice and her expertise at local, national and international level. She also has over 20 years’ experience in promoting equal opportunity and inclusion of all communities such as advocating and influencing for ESOL (English as a Secondary Language), creating systemic change for refugees and asylum seekers as Co-Chair of the Regional Yorkshire and Humber Refugee Integration Forum and rights and responsibilities through various projects. Zahra is a compassionate voice for social mobility of communities especially from low socio-economic backgrounds.
