Developing machine learning techniques for identification and quantification of a range of workplace respiratory pollutants. The LRF project focussed on respirable crystalline silica (RCS) on samples of air obtained form wearable samplers to evaluate worker exposure, and showed the feasibility of the technique for discriminating RCS from other particulate material in the workplace air. We hope that this will lead to a "lab-on-a-desk" technology allowing cheap and quick analysis to improve immediacy of worker hazard perception and risk management.
